Artist's Statement:

The characters I came up with in my story is based of real people in my life right now. While these people are portrayed in my story is not how the are in real life. In the story I made them have different personalities as well as them have different parts to the story. While when I was coming up with the story I was constantly being surrounded by my girlfriends and all the stories they have from past dates. All of the stories being completely different, unique, as well as very relatable. Every human desires at some point to find that love, that friendship, that person they can share the rest of their life with. But even then every decision we make can either lead you closer or farther away from that special person that is set aside out there in this great big world, waiting to find you as well. So it became quite clear what I wanted to write about and create a story for. The main characters wants and needs were very much the same. They seems to be very simplistic but yet they are so much very complex. Every decision makes up what and who this very person is and will become. The character has expressed oh so clearly that they desire to have a deep romantic relationship with someone. This desire has not only become a want but now also a need. They felt that they been through so many ups and  downs with people they never ended turning out to be the fit for them. So now they feel that it is their time that, that special someone walks into their life. Their wants and needs are very similar, just about the same honestly. They are just at that point in their life. Although with all things in life everything is based off the decisions you make. Like with the decision of what type of drink you want to get at Cafe C, they both bring on a different storyline you can go from. They are also very different conversations that goes down between the main characters that bring about different ways the story can end. When I came up the the decision between drinks I was thinking about how different drinks can help different moods. So like if you had a triple espresso latte that could mean you are tired and ready to feel like you were born to be an early riser rather than if you got an iced chai latte that could mean you just enjoy the favor and spice and you’re easy going. The triple espresso route brings you about a different type of Chase character that is very stuck in his ways, believes he knows all that is right, what needs to be done to succeed, while also being quick to judge. He is also obsessed with his car and people knowing about cars. Now if you were to take the chai route the date was easy and going so smoothly, which is also how I would describe a chai. But also with a little excitement and spice, you see this happen when you decide to go for the chocolate peanut butter shake and Chase is sent to the hospital. But not all chai tea lattes are spicy some are easy and sweet, just like the vanilla and M&Ms shake that could have been chosen. This part of the route lead you to the best ending very simply. Every decision that happens in the story either makes it easier or harder for the character to get to that happy ending, just like real life. In the real world things happen at random and never know why things happen, just story beats keep that reality alive. I had all the decisions mapped out so that each one kept the story alive and interesting, without being too far fetched. When I think of coffee I think of high energy, hearts beating fast, some sort of adventure. So creating the caffeinated based choice it was easy to come up with a story line of a crazy, high energy, strange story where Chase seems to be more of a hot head. While if you decided the iced chai latte route was for you then you see that you have an easy chill, fun loving type of story with an exciting twist. To me, as chai tea lattes being my favorite drink at a coffee shop, I decided this route to be much easier and less stress-free. Although there is always some sort of spice to a chai so I added a twist and a possible allergic emergency go down. While that is quite possibly very lifelike it was also a twist in the story you’d least expect. While quite frankly the most difficult part was coming up with the name of the passage that would be the connecting a piece from one story to the other. These pieces were the ones that parts of the story would end up at in the main story. Within all of these different stories coming up with a line or even word that was able to be used in different passages to later connect them all together was difficult. Not every story has the same type of questions in it between characters, I had to get extra creative with that one, it took a lot of time. Although like I mentioned above, no matter who you are at a certain age you start to crave the idea of finding a special person. Finding a love like that is very difficult and hard to find, it requires a lot of trial and errors to get to where you want to be. I think from a reader and player’s perspective it is very relatable in different aspects. Not everything that happens in the story happens in the player’s real lives but the imperfectness and struggles are far to understandable. In the end we all want to end up having a happy ending, one that is perfect and envied by others. This is story that helps that player achieve that.
